1998 S70 SC901 Radio Woes

Post by ryvsdiewelt »

Hi all,
Brand new to MVS, I tried searching, and if I missed it, I apologize. I'm posting regarding my 1998 S70 that I just picked up about a week ago. Loving the car so far, but I currently have the stock SC901 radio in it, and it seems to have some sort of weird issues. Antenna was broken, went ahead and fixed that. Issue number 1 is no sound at all comes out of the radio. It seems that I have no volume adjustment whatsoever, but when I pull out my volume knob, it will adjust balance no problem. Problem two is that when I insert a cassette, it flips from side a to side b and back again, and then ejects the cassette. It also seems that the CD changer works fine, as it plays through all of the tracks on my Steely Dan CDs. The PO had an aftermarket radio installed, he did not splice the radio into the wires, he used an adapter harness. He gave me the car with the stock radio and entered in the code when he installed it. Trying to get an idea if my radio is cooked, or if there's other issues I need to go after.
