Power steering line

Anyone have any idea what the pressure is in the line? I was thinking along the lines of what abscate has suggested. Drain the line if possible and then split a piece of fuel hose of similar dimension to the holed hose and then clamp it as close as possible to the hole with the rubber hose split on the opposite side to the hole. Then clamp 2 hose clamps as close to the hole as possible. Not a permanent fix but may tide you over the winter.

Depending on the pressure in the hose, could a short section of the metal pipe be removed and a reinforced rubber fuel hose installed in place?
