Trouble Code Assistance

Post by HBV850 »

Greetings. We have a 2004 XC90 T6 AWD and have the check engine and yellow ! light on the dash lit.

I pulled the codes and came up with P0050 "H2OS Heater Continuity Circuit (Bank 2 Sensor 1)" which I think is just a bad Oxygen sensor?

Second code is more puzzling. P2131 "Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch "F" Circuit Range Performance"

My plan is to figure out which O2 sensor that is and replace it with a new Bosch unit (fingers crossed that will fix that issue). But the second code is more puzzling. Anyone have any input or experience? Thanks in advance!

On your car I understand that it is the one right in front of the catalytic converter...seems your car might have 3? Anyway before you go swapping out 02 sensors, check for bad wires to the sensor as well as vacuum leaks in the small hoses throughout your engine bay. You can spray some carb cleaner or other flammable spray around your hoses and intake manifold with the engine idling and if your engine surges you'll know you have a leak. I'm apt to think the throttle code you're getting is secondary to the first one.
Good luck and let us know what you find.

Thanks for the reply. I should mention that I also had a go round with the sunroof leak down the front drivers side pillar and am wondering if water from that could have somehow caused a bad connection? I've read that others with the TPS code have all said it's been connector corrosion. Any idea if the ECU is located anywhere near the area that got wet? Thanks again.
