Battery disconnect/reconnect procedure

Post by hatertot »

Hello and sorry for what must be the most rudimentary question asked here. I've been reading around the internet and seeing that some people end up with issues when not following procedure correctly disconnecting/reconnecting their Volvo battery properly. The issues seem to be isolated to people with older Volvos that have the physical key and don't follow the procedure: disconnect negative first, and insert key + turn to position 2 before reconnecting.

I'm about to remove my head unit in my 2016 V60, and what few videos I see on the topic all recommend disconnecting the battery first. I was wondering if there is any special procedure with disconnecting and then reconnecting the battery with this generation Volvo, with the keyless entry fob.

Thanks so much

2016 V60 Starter battery replacement. per Volvo.

If your V60 has the Start/Stop function it is equipped with a support battery in addition to the starter battery.
