If the bolts are not rusted. I'm hoping they are going to be ok as I replaced the 2 slider bolts maybe 3 years ago. Actually, they may be newer than that as our son had a prang in it maybe 2-3 years ago and it got a new bumper cover.

There are only 2 bolts holding the bumper. The rest is plastic push pin clips and a couple of torx screws. I can do my bumper out and then back in with eyes closed, in under 5 minutes. It is that easy.

I replaced my oil cap gasket (which was pretty hard) and upper engine mount (rubber insert moved freely inside). Now I'm thinking I need to do the strut brace mounts as they seemed pretty soft–or is this normal?

Also thinking of swapping out the rear shocks. Does anyone know if I need a spring compressor for this on a 2006 XC70?

Big pry bar to pull the control arm down. I stood on a 6 foot bar with big fat guy on the end of a 4-5:1 lever to get this done

They are soft by design, to keep vibrations under control.

Yes. You still can take the whole assembly out w/o compressor, but changing the shock would require using a spring compressor.

This type of compressors works very good: https://www.ebay.com/itm/165021127842?h ... SwBgRhKHhC

I used really heavy duty tie-down straps and cinched the rear control arms together and down, did not use a pry bar except when popping out the shocks. Yes on compressor. 07 XC70.

This is spot on. I just changed the washer pump on my S60, had to unhook the bumper and pull away on passenger side to do it. Seems like a hassle until you see how it's done. Then you get in there and it's super easy.
