1995 850 2.0t brake pedal hard

Right, so after spending months and hundreds of euros on fixing everything but the brakes (besides the handbrake which still refuses to cooperate), something has happened to the brakes.

I'm used to tapping brakes, so when I brake, I tap it, brakes fine, second tap - the brake pedal is impossibly hard and coming to a stop requires two feet.

What could be causing this?
Has the brake booster just decided to up and die?

Check the vacuum hoses from the engine to the booster have not split. If they are original then there is a chance that has happened.

I am not sure on the 95 cars if there is a plastic one way valve on the brake booster/servo. It is where the pipe connects to the booster.

Again, from memory, there is also a valve in the pipe from the manifold to the booster. Is it clogged?

If all this is good then it may be the booster diaphragm may have failed.

When were the rubber hoses for the brake calipers last replaced on the one on the back axle?

Parking brake should not be to bad to fix, although many seem to think it is for some reason.
