We are well inland from Lake effect snow and are surrounded by much colder mountain/hill areas.

She started and ran great for 10 minutes this morning but then battery voltage sagged and went into limp.

Perfect reminder that a decent starting battery is not sufficient to run an ETM car. I’ll pick up a new battery from NAPA in an hour

Dunno if this has been covered elsewhere, but I've had good results with this one for a couple years,
https://www.amazon.com/Optima-Digital-P ... B00DHGPVKI

It brought back a Volvo unit that was stone dead for some time in one of the charity auction cars I rescued.

Glad you got Elizabeth back up and running. Always remember cold weather kills batteries especially when they have been unused for a while. I still like Interstate (Volvo uses them and badges them), but I go with the Interstate brand and go for the higher output version. I thing the Volvo one is around 550 CCA or maybe 600. Higher output one is around 720CCA

Those maintainer chargers that foggydogg mentioned sound like a good investment. I have one but jury still out on the re-animating on the battery recovery part. Last one I had jumped to 30A without any input from me and fried my battery overnight! It had been good and reliable for 2 years or so prior to that. Canadian tire replaced the battery and refunded the price of the charger. Also asked for the unit to be sent back for analysis.

Glad to hear Ekaterina is also close to possible resurrection. Almost a fully functioning fleet.

Cold weather sucks, especially where you live as you get the damp that goes with it. We are supposed to get to +13C today, but then temps drop to midweek and snow!

Good luck!

Neil.

Well...time to end this thread,,,and start another.
I managed to swap the starter on the T5, which is really tough on the HPT as the charge air pipe is in the way.

Got her done.

Now, no oil pressure. All that sitting must have hardened the O-rings and I dont have oil pressure anymore. Ill have to drop pan and do the o ring job.

Well that really sucks. You do have oil in the engine......? I could understand low oil pressure, but from ok to nothing is hard to believe can happen. I hope that is what it is, but just not the work you want this time of year.

Are you sure your car isn't an 'R' like mine? As soon as you fix one thing the car takes the hump and something else fails.

Hope it goes easy on the 'O' ring replacements.

I’ve been accused of being a glass half full kind of guy.. im thankful this happened in the driveway and not far from home

Totally agree. Strange though you had the car running before for 10 minutes without the oil pressure issue?

Yeah, that's a little strange that this issue wouldn't show itself sooner.
