Cleaning and chasing all fasteners is part of the complete job, yes.
Cardboard: the most versatile tool in the shop.

Maybe toss a 100w incandescent under the pan overnight?

Two M6 flange bolts, dropped oil pickup. Cleaned out junk. Soak in small cup of gas overnight. But tough to clean the cup as it is lipped to the inside, used a hooked pick

If I get a 40F forecast, I’ll bring the pan in, apply adhesive at room temperature, then apply to car at end of 40F day. Otherwise I’ll build a cardboard tent and just heat it to 80f for a few hours then let sit fir a day.

Parts in from FCP

Two hours to test fit, permatex 518 seal and install the o rings and oil pan

Used the Reinz kit

Temperature was 51F today and I put a space heater under it for an hour to warm the pan.

Old prints were very hard and brittle

Is that a nasty rust hole in the frame beside the crank pulley mount?

Reinstalled the oil cooler, 4 Torx
Installed oil filter
Tightened engine mount bolts
Installed torque rod, not torqued to spec
Loaded 5 liters Castrol
Cranked 3x 10 seconds with engine relay removed ,

Then started and drove it around block to operating temperature

No leaks!

Still a few brackets to install but Elizabeth rolls again

Follow up. When the pickup plugged I had the car idling in the street coming up to temperature. I suddenly heard the lifters clicking and found the oil light on.

It could have idling with no oil pressure for 5, even 10 minutes. There is a lot of lore about engine wear occurring on startup, it really isn’t based on anything but verbiage from the 1930s

After I took care of the pickup and orings, oil pressure came up and everything was fine. Why? Loads on the engine at idle are very low, and even splash lubrication of bearings probably keeps them slippery enough for “ a while”

Upshot, don’t fret loss of oil pressure as “ killing your engine instantly” if you get the loads off it, the bottom ends are tough.
