Changing out the Fuel filter

Heh Guys;
Hope your weekend was good.
Just a quick question for you. I don't have a pair of jack stands but I do have some ramps I have used many times
for changing my oil. Do you think it is possible to back the car up the ramps to access the fuel filter which is located
on the rear passenger side just in front of the gas tank?

If your ramps permit drive forward onto them so they don’t get in the way of the job work area

I would think so. What abscate said ^^^^ makes sense but you may even be able to do it backing onto the ramps, just be prepared to get on your back and snake your hands up in there.

My ramps have a stop at the top, so no driving forward and over.

I've changed mine on the late 2002 S60 like that a few times: backing rear wheels onto ramps in the driveway (spilling gas indoors felt like a bad idea).
Don't forget to relieve fuel pressure and disconnect battery for good measure before you tackle the filter

regent, how do I relieve the fuel pressure other than pinching the tabs on each end of the old filter and pulling out?

There should be a tire valve stem like thing on the end of the engine fuel manifold. Remove the cap, cover with a rag, and push in the stem inside the tube.

volvolugnut; next dumb question. Where is the "engine fuel manifold" located? Is that under the hood or under the chassis near the fuel filter?

This release valve is in the engine compartment -- see fuel rail item #1, right end.
