'01 V70 - Pwer Locks, Fuel Gauge

Post by Talbotg »

About once a week, the power locks will not work for a few minutes. When this happens (whether parked or driving), the fuel gauge and trip information section goes dead. After a few minutes, all will work again.
Dealer says he can't fix it unless he duplicates the problem...hard to do.
Anyone know what the foor locks and fuel gauge have in common?

Just a quick look at the wiring but it is the C.E.M. that powers both of these systems (as it does almost all systems in the car) and it looks like relay 2/120 is common to these 2 systems. Try replacing this first as it is your lowest cost option.

I'm not familiar with the CEM location and various relays.
I didn't see it in the owner's manual. Would a good maintenance
book like Chiltons have this information?

Send me a p.m. with your email and I will send you the complete wiring schematics with all locations. Chiltons is useless for this type of stuff.

It is a pity that Talbotg never let us know how things worked out.

I have the same model car with 120K. The fuel guage, trip information and power locking on the rear doors are permanently inoperative.

The front doors only will lock with the door buttons, but they will not unlock with the door buttons. The front doors will lock and unlock with the remote, but the rear three doors will neither lock nor unlock unless the function is performed manually.

2002V70,

If the literature is still available, I would love to take a look at it.

Volvo340,

In exactly what location were the network cables rubbing against the seat rails? Do the cables carry any identification?

- front door can't unlock via driver door lock switch
- rear wiper + spray doesn't work

Found the solution in this thread

Lets see how long this lasts :)

If you want to reboot your car, make sure you read this the "ECC Temperature Fan" in the following page

http://www.freewebs.com/howardsvolvos/f ... #182389930

Dis/Reconnect battery requires the following sequence

- Wait 5+ min after key is out to make sure everything in the car is off
- Disconnect negative terminal
- Wait a few min to erase computer memory
- Insert key and switch to position II
- Reconnect negative terminal
- Turn the key to off
- Lock and unlock door (reset upper cabin electronics, without this step, your sunroof/homelink may not work)

Now set your clock :)
