However, the dealer e information aghe has screwed us out of that outlet too says they're not and won't schedule the work. I asked them twice to confirm with Volvo but so far, they haven't....
How frustrating! The dealer shop apparently just doesn't want to do the work, and will never "confirm" anything with Volvo (because they already know). See Rick's post for a possible solution. In your final call to the dishonest dealer service manager mention to them you know they are lying and are tired of it and are taking your business elsewhere. Who knows, maybe it will sink in eventually (unlikely, I know).

For that matter, it wouldn't hurt to name the dealership here if they never come through on the covered recall.

I really want to use this dealer because they are 2 miles from my house so will continue to hound them - but I shouldn't have to. I haven't really had any problems with them regarding my V90 (but that has just been basic scheduled maintenance). It's strange to me that they would be like this because it means I will be bringing two cars that haven't been to this dealer before so if I was them I would use this as an opportunity to look the cars over and sell some additional work. In turn, I regard then doing that as some free diagnosis that I can then fix myself!

I got a Safety Recall Notice from Volvo today for my 2004 S60. NHTSA Recall 21V-766, Volvo recall R10125.

The corrective action is to replace the front driver's Air bag with a new Air bag.

It is for the one I am doing the V8 conversion on. Systems been altered so much they would touch it if I could get it into a dealer.

I also got the letter recently for our 06 S60. Nothing yet for the 07 XC70 but not surprising as it is also not reporting on the Volvo website as covered by the recall.

Almost worth it for the reaction, give it to them straight-faced and say "I'll pick it up in an hour when the swap is done"

I got the recall letter yesterday for 2007 XC70. There is a Volvo dealership 1 hour north and another one 1 hour south. I called the northern one first and the secretary of the service department had no idea what I was talking about. I hung up and called the southern dealership. Within 5 minutes got the airbag replacement scheduled on January 4th. They will also give a loaner vehicle so I can go shopping in this big city.
