Right, what was it doing beforehand? Are we going to give it multiple diagnosis or stick to what is known? If compression is "good" on other cylinders do not see any need to go any further than head gasket, valve job, anything else that's easy to do when the heads are off.

You could do a leak-down test on that cylinder. Bring it up to TDC, then connect an air compressor to the same hose you use for the compression test, except remove the schrader valve stem. Put about 30 lbs in and listen for where the air leaks out.
If you hear it at the intake / throttle body and / or exhaust tail pipe, then bad valve.
If you hear it at the dipstick, then bad rings.

Try to learn life's bad lessons vicariously through others.

Under cold startup and maybe for 30sec of driving, there is a little amount of blue smoke.
All other cylinders showed even compressionon cold at around 145psi.
Pretty sure it is a bad valve. When compression was lost, one minute the car was fine going 60 down the highway and all of the sudden it was misfiring.
Might do a leak down test when I get access to the car over the holidays.
When the shop did the smoke test. Smoke did come out of the dipstick and exhaust.
This is the second time cylinder 2 has dropped a valve. First time was about 100k ago

I don't have the time to fix it, they dont want to pay $3500 to have it fixed again and finding a doner t5 if needed is a crap shoot.
On Monday my father is going to pick up a 2014 XC90 with 89k on it to go with their 2021 xc60
What to do with the car? Second owner since 18kmi. Garaged when at home and work its entire life. The exterior is an 8/10, couple dings that can be taken care of with some PDR. Front end shows some miles. Paint is in great condition. The interior is a 9/10. The only ware is the the steering wheel, driver seat and shift knob. The rest of the interior has probably seen less then 300mi worth of use.
It's a white/tan interior t5 5spd with 220k.
I don't want to Junk it, would rather not part it out, but that would be an option. As an enthusiast, I would rather see it go to a fellow enthusiast who would fix it and keep it on the road.
What do you guys think it is worth?

It’s value is destroyed by being a non runner. You cannot evaluate all the other stuff as a project, and you can t expect people to take your history on faith.

I'm revising my post to say try and find someone (a moonlighter) who would be willing to do two valves and a head gasket. You would then be back to where you were. Run it the way it is until then, after disconnecting #2 fuel injector. Then drive another 100k, unless tons of other repairs appear imminent. Ignore what the shop told you about the rings, smoke test, etc.
