Re: Vida CEM swapping

Anybody want to peek at how to turn an Arduino into a J2534 interface, that is VIDA compatible?
See SardineCAN by Olaf at hackingvolvo. This could be a short cut to adding capabilities to this project. He has a J2534 Win32 DLL ... could that be ported to Linux?

That does not need to be ported to Linux to run VIDA. VIDA will only work on Windows. So if your primary OS is Linux, you just run VIDA in a virtual machine and pass your DiCE/Sardine/whatever USB device to that virtual machine, where it is handled by the Windows driver.

I was thinking a native Linux J2534 might come in handy in the future.

Getting VIDA to run native under Linux would be a ton of work which nobody wants to do. The biggest obstacle would be that VIDA uses ActiveX framework. Vida would need to moved to a different framework before anybody can dream of porting it to another OS.
ActiveX framework is the reason you need Internet Explorers rendering engine to access the VIDA server. No other browser has ActiveX.

A J2534 DLL is the translator between J2534 and the manufacturer's low level hardware protocol. Somewhere in the source code for Olaf's Win32 DLL should be all or some of the Volvo low level protocols Olaf discovered ... unless he stuffed it in the Arduino code.

Hello,

Today I tried to crack CEM PIN from 2014 Volvo XC90 (P2), but without success.
CEM P/N is: 31394158

I tried 3 times, but cracker won't or can't crack it.

In attachment is a log file.
What to do? :)

Thanks in advance!

J2534 is a pass-through protocol, i.e. allows sending a raw CAN frames, without any translation.

Yea ... something like 80 - 90% of the latencies are 63000, the longest value.

You have IO Terminal or access to IO Terminal. Can you extract the .bin and/or PIN?

I am interpreting that as SardineCAN includes the translations. How else could Olaf be sure it would work with "various diagnostic programs". The whole idea of J2534 is that the client side developer does not need to know the low level protocols. The dll with translate the request and pass it through.
