Another keyless entry question

Just got a used keyless fob and got it programmed fine except that both buttons lock the doors. No unlock. Anyone else ever run into this?

I've been having a similar issue.
When I bought my 97 955 2 years ago - I got two keyfobs with it, both with "square" buttons arranged vertically(one above the other).
I can lock the car, with the upper buttons only on the fobs, but can't unlock it. Have to use the key to do that.
I have gone through the re-programming procedures listed elsewhere on this forum, and I can tell the keyless system does reprogram to a different setting, but I still can't use the fobs to open the car.

Thinking that it's the keyfobs and that maybe they are not the original ones from this car, I bought two Volvo 850 keyfobs of the other kind, the ones with oval buttons side be side.
No cigar. They won't program even though they worked OK for the previous owner, and the batteries are fine. THis suggests to me that the first kind of keyfobs, with square buttons one above the other, is the right kind for my car but something about the keyless won't allow to use them to open the locks.

Keep us posted if you have any success in fixing it.

Good luck!
