I am seriously impressed that you were able to prove this as a way of accessing the pump. Hopefully you can repair the wiring and get the pump running again.

Good Luck!

Well I thought long and hard about just repairing wires but i just couldn't come up with and acceptable way to seal the wires against full load of fuel and sloshing around.
check out 3rd pic
https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B019BT ... UTF8&psc=1

They are corroded flush to the tank entrance and if I was to repair wires I'd have drill out old connections and to seal it perfectly as to not leak fuel when the tank is full. Thought about a "gland nut" arrangement may work?

I didn't feel confident with the idea of silicon or epoxy although they may have worked?? but what if it didn't??
Oh the embarrassment! And unable to get safety :-(

So in the end I rolled the dice on the Amazon unit,,, Order Total: CDN$ 155.32 .
Actually considering ordering BOSCH 69693 pump and installing into Amazon pump assembly,,, what do ya think?
cheers

Hey I'd love to do this on the cheap but see what I mean?
Those connections need to be sealed plus weather proof

Thought about using these but you'd need 4 of them on the front of pump cover. Weather proof connection and sealing ability was also a concern.

We used this stuff once at the speedway on a cracked fuel line - low pressure system, back when NASCAR mandated carburetors.
Since you would only be concerned with keeping the electric plug bungs secured to the bulkhead fixture, there wouldn't be any pressure, just a bit of sloshing. It does cure hard, though.

For those dealing with broken wire syndrome, I made a through hull wire connection on Kat, the S70 AWD 1999 by drilling out the pump wires, putting in a friction fit peice of 8mm CuNiForm 5 cm long covered with epoxy, epoxying both sides to seal, then fed in the wires, then filling the 5 cm tube with epoxy slowly to make a plug.

@abscate @deano1
Would anyone care to speculate; could using this partial subframe drop work on a '98 AWD V70?

Should work on all AWD P80's. They are basically all the same. V70XC's have different rear hubs but that is it. S/V70 AWD's are the same.

Yes on that 1998

You have to remove

Exhaust
Driveshaft 6 bolts
Viscous coupler 4 bolts
Vc to diff 6 bolts

Then undo the foreword torque arms and tank straps to ease the tank down. Hold it down with lumber.
