hi buddy the bulkhead coupling is a right pigs ear of a design and prone to problems esp if your car is old which most are now,its far better while your at it to remove it and replace with suitable diameter of heater hose and thats easy if you do it whilst replacing the heater matrix else its a pain in the butt type job,it was maybe good when new but over complicated and has so many bits its mind boggling as to why! i did mine on the 855 all in all 2 hours and ive only one working hand  good luck

Maybe someone can tell me if these lines are correct as they came out: long one on top, short one bottom, and the plastic ring goes on the short one?

From about one year ago!

Even easier.

One hose comes off the back of the cylinder head ( actually just below it on the block)

That’s the hot coolant flow IN to the heater core

The cooler side connects to the water pipe and heads back to the pump to be circulated through the radiator again.

Both hoses will fit into the upper and lower coupler positions, so upper and lower aren’t reliable markers. Stock configuration is upper Is hot in, lower is cooler out, relative to the heater core

Worst case scenario you can just bypass the firewall junction.

This latest cold snap finally did the battery in the 850 wagon in.. Noticed the dead battery was from 2014, I'm pretty happy with how long it lasted.

Since it was already in the garage thawing, I decided to change the oil and finally tackle the broken glovebox.

After finding various methods to get into the glovebox once the inner mechanism breaks, I found the easiest way was to gently pry the door open enough to saw through the U clasp with a hacksaw. Took about two minutes before I was in.

I've had no problems with the heater hose bulkhead junctions in our cars. Never leaked a drop there either.

The issue I've had is that you need to make sure you get ALL of the old spacers and o-rings out of the bulkhead fitting before you try and install the new stuff. Also, be wary of a different set-up between the original stuff and the AM items. Sometimes they're different, in regards to clip lengths, spacers, etc.

Finally got around to putting in a dash pad in the 850. Found one that was *NOT* broken and reinforced it with fiberglass. Now biggest problem is to figure out how to dispose of the old pad's airbag module properly, and no, I won't be making a YouTube video of me exploding it. Probably call around to a few salvage yards to see if they will take it.

Find a random dumpster around town. Works every time!

...in all seriousness though, most places would probably prefer that it's been deployed. I can understand why you wouldn't want to do that though, I wouldn't either. I believe some scrap yards accept them as hazardous materials, but that depends on the yard.

4 1/2 months later and I finally get my engine back from the shop. But they did a beautiful job !

So now install the N/A cams etc. One question; the shop said that I needed the gaskets for these three odd shaped areas, what ever they are. So what are they, so I can get these last couple of little things ordered up ?
Now I finally get to button this baby up ! Did i mention that it's been 4 1/2 months ?

They 271815 gasket kit should cover it

Oooh, pretty!

Those should be the correct gaskets. I'm surprised that they even offer those gaskets still, I would have suggested ultra black RTV.
