I thought a VIN is specific for a specific automobile; and that automobile only.
2005 Volvo XC90, V8
1. In the VIDA software, when a car profile is created with it's VIN, in the parts section, parts of different trims, engines are shown. Why not just the particular VIN only parts is shown?
How do I know if my car has the followings:
2. Auto-Dim Rear View mirror.
3. Memory Function in the Exterior Rear View Mirror.
Cheers

Simple, automatic rear view mirror will turn greenish when light hits it at night rather than flipping up and down with a switch below the mirror. If your Volvo has memory seats it has memory mirrors. June

On my 2004 both keys can be set as driver 1 and 2. Three memory buttons on seat as well. The idea is my key has my seat memory, side mirrors memory, and radio preset that activities when fob unlocks the door automatically so I can be comfortable immediately if my husband with key 2 was last to drive the car. Key 2 will do the same for him. A 3rd can be added for button 3, but button 3 would have to be pushed manually to activate that driver's settings. Say for a teen driver using the valet key. Hope that makes sense. June

Which key fob automatically ventilates the driver seat with punch holes?

See link https://www.volvoclub.org.uk/vin_xc90.shtml for a VIN breakdown, it'll give you an idea of what information is present. Key indicator for replacement parts are the last 6 digits, those are your chassis number.
VIDA will tell you all sorts of detail if you get the vehicle connected and read. Attached is a copy of two outputs (my V8s) side by side. They're pretty much identical these days (single button press lock/unlock plus cabin fan after-blow software was added to the Ocean Race last year) less the Sirius (post MY07) and TPMS in the Sport.
Once you read a vehicle with a VIDA/DICE, it'll save the information in the PC so that when you go back in you can select the same vehicle and it'll automatically make the required changes to the VIDA user interface such that you'll see the core information (MY, Model, engine/transmission, sunroof or not) specific to your vehicle configuration.
You won't set any level of change on accessories though. They're considered bolt-ons with or without associated software loads and VIDA does not get to that degree of granularity in the user interface. The accessory information remains in VIDA, it's just not presented specifically to the user. You'll have to identify your accessory and find it manually.
My suggestion- read the vehicle with a VIDA/DICE if you can and keep a copy around for reference. Use that as your guide when leveraging VIDA above and beyond the basics.
edit- typos and clarification, revise attachment (AE, not AR for front strut)

With the licensed online version you would click on [ Vehicle Details ] in the upper left corner and it would look up your VIN in the QW90 and PIE databases which are on a remote servers. The button is still there in the hacked version but, the connections to all remote servers is severed when you run the patch. That was necessary to get VIDA to run without a VIDA account.
Click on [ Vehicle Details ] and see what kind of information is in them databases.
