'04 V70 Still confused what engine I have

I've been looking for a replacement engine for my car. '04 v70. The VIN gives an engine code of "64". I understand this translates to a B5244S6. The emissions plate under the hood, pictured below, gives another story. That indicates it has a B5244S, this should correspond to a "61" in the VIN. So, it appears inconsistent. Although the plate does read that it is compliant with California Emissions.

Assuming the "64" is correct on my car, '04 64's are difficult to find. Is a '05 "64 identical and interchangeable?

I have the same exact problem trying to identify my 2005 V70, 64 on the VIN but no S6 on the emissions plate. Need to replace exhaust and the unit specifically says will not fit engine code B5244S6 so I need to know. Any help would be appreciated.

Read the engine number stamped on the engine block.
its hard to read , difficult to locate too but thats the real identifier.
Located behind the engine, up against the firewall, passenger side.
i had to wipe it clean then put my phone in there and take some photos.
Follow this video. write it in your owner manual.
