It cranked right up and stalled, then took a few attempts at cranking to get it started again. It’s the third time in two different P80s this week that I had troubled starts.

Still wondering what to do with Blue Steel after the failure of a newly installed steering rack. viewtopic.php?p=591923#p591923 It’s such a great car, but I’m rattled.

Bought new taillight bulbs for the XC90.
Huh, I thought I had remembered Cardone racks locking up before. Sure enough, I had the first reply on the 2017 thread.
That's why I went with the TRW rack from FCP. It was expensive, but no way I'd buy a Cardone after that.

cheers im glad as the car is needed tomorrow and we have heavy frost then rain forecast and its def easier when you can see where your going! just need to do the rear suspension top bushes next then i think we back to a1 condition mechanically then i shall try tidy the bodywork, mostly laquer peeling so hoping to use my old bosses garage for a weekend and get bro to help redo the lot, despite all the work its taken i like this car a lot and intend to keep it many years so i see it as worthwhile hard work! THAT AND IM A BIT LOONY!

^ No. If you were loony, then you'd be driving a car with Lucas electric.

I should've mentioned, if the blades aren't making contact with the glass, some folks have luck with bending the arms a bit. Robert DIY may even have a vid of the process, he thinks the spring pressure causes the aluminum to deform over the years.
Glad you're on the road.

I saw those posts about them failing. Never again. I don't even want to drive it again unless it has a TRW rack.

I have a tow truck on the way to bring it back to the garage. The mechanic tried to tell me it was probably just the steering lock activating. Fingers crossed that it gets replaced with a rack that works.

hi buddy you would not believe how much they had been bent already before i got it also the springs are very weak and the spline has been damaged when the securing nut came loose so needed replacing and its a good job on mot test they dont drive the car in the rain or above about 40mph in the rain as the blades had zero contact with screen!
there looks to be a lot of wiggle in the wiper motor shafts so guess i will be replacing that at some point as they do get a lot of use here in soggy england
we been waiting for snow here for years i built the mrs a new off road powerchair which would be great fun in the snow, that was 2016 no significant snow since! lots of frost at the moment and -5c outside,no driving for me for a few days, cheers

Finally got " Tab A " inserted into " Slot B ". So far, so good. I MIGHT have it all buttoned up this weekend, but I kind of doubt it.
