key stuck in ingnition of 1997 850?

stupid question but is your car in park? i had a brainfart while working on my car 2 days ago and completely forgot it needs to be in park. if it's in park, your pnp switch might be done for.
1997 Volvo 850 Wagon (Non-Turbo) with too many problems to count
