New Windshield Needed in Seattle

Can anyone recommend a cheap windshield place in Seattle? 2005 XC70. Thanks.

This is not something you want to go “cheap” on. My suggestion would be to add glass coverage to your auto policy and then let insurance pay for it. I’ve always carried glass coverage and have had at least a dozen windshields replaced over the years. Haven’t paid a dime at the time of install. Your premium will go up when you elect glass coverage, but it is very minimal. Last time I checked with my insurer, glass coverage was around $12 extra.

I would also suggest trying to get insurance to pay for Volvo glass. You will likely have pushback on this though. It is superior in every way to aftermarket windshields.

Lot of Chinese manufacturers have cheaper and distorted glass. Had replaced the windshield on an 02 Honda CRV. Company had excellent ratings on Google so went with them. They weren't the cheapest but not outrageous after calling around. The Chinese glass they put in was wavy and they were PO'd. Ordered a Pilkington and reinstalled the glass.

Have always had good experience with Pilkington so call around for pricing and check Google reviews or Yelp.

Those cheap Chinese windshields are garbage, take it from someone who lives where they put gravel on the roads 7 months of the year. I don't know what an OEM Volvo windshield costs but they're probably worth it. I was able to find an LOF ( Libby Owens Ford) windshield for my last replacement and it was about $400 CDN when I could have paid 200 for a jobber windshield. It's held up pretty good considering the conditions we have here. I have no chips from gravel but a large crack at the bottom from a mating pair of owls on a country road that had a poor lift/drag ratio.

At least they made it to the windshield. If they hit lower, you would have had great horny horned owls
