Odometer gear

Hello everyone.

It seems like the odometer gear broke again on my wife’s car. Is there a go to place to get the two gears? Thanks

Been a while. FCP Euro used to carry them as did IPD. There were some places on Ebay

I think this is where I got my last set:

They have a couple of options.

FCP has this kit which includes the bulbs, so while in there......:

They also sell the 12 and 15 tooth gear separately.

Don't know about that, but the 2nd link above takes you to the website of odometer gears. There is a pdf beside each part for sale and that gives a full picture how-to for the job. Not hugely difficult as I have done it twice!!

Under no circumstances should you follow the video on the ipd website. They should have taken it down years ago. Your dash pad will end up a jigsaw puzzle. The dash pad has to come all the way out of the car - carefully.

Is the only method to read the true mileage via the obd 850 app? Unfortunately I have iPhones only in our house

what about computer software programs? You will need the connector cable though. For all the hassle, it may be worth seeing if a dealer can read it for you and then add the mileage on the way back.

Your post suggests the gear just broke; is it really worth it to you to add just a few hundred or even just a couple thousand miles? Makes no difference in the big picture.

Hi Mecheng. Odometergears.com guy I spoke to ten or fifteen years ago and he’s a solid guy. Never heard of a complaint. I forget his name…

There’s a tutorial to change it in the VRD.
