1999 s70 AWD sliding rear caliper bolts, soft metal

Post by abscate »

I have a couple of cars with sliding rear calipers , the the caliper moves on the bracket.

Most P80s have fixed rears where they two pistons pinch the pads onto the rotor to effect braking

Observation. The single use bolts that attach the calipers to the pins are soft, almost like pot metal. My VW is the same. I had to freeze up on me and had to drill them out, it was really easy.

If you muck up sliding caliper installs, it ends badly, by the way.

Been a while since I had the 98 V70 XC. Don't recall that unless it was a reconditioned unit and came with those cheap bolts like the fronts often get with the slider pins.
