P2 V70R cup holder annoyance

Post by Saakey »

Hey all. So i'm writing to find out if this bugs anyone else. One of my gripes about the car is the cheap, noisy, hard plastic cup holders that's in the car. I would have assumed by now someone can up with a more rubberized insert or a better replacement for center cup holders. I'm not sure if it's just me or just mine, but anything you put in there rattles and bounces around like something is missing. Anyone else find this annoying and or have fingered out a solution? I thought of buying some thin rubber and maybe glueing it to the bottom and sides... but I was wanting to see if there were any other ideas people did. Thanks!

Okay, so it seems that this doesn't bother others as much as it does me. Or perhaps mine is just lose and rattles more than others. With that being said, as soon as I can get to it, i'm going to make a video of my upgrade to these / this cupholder in the center console in the near future. Stay tuned.

IPD has these cup holder inserts available in cheapish and Volvo brands. When my inserts got ratty, I pulled up the cup holder rim and removed the insert.

If you want to make something I've used these in the hard plastic dash and console trays of my Nissan Frontier to keep stuff from sliding around. Thin and easy to cut to size.

Yeah, I have nothing... all loose, crunch, noisy plastic.

I just bought something like that off ebay... in hopes to add/insert to the cupholder to eliminate the cup to plastic sound.

I applied a circle of the soft fuzzy half of Velcro into the bottom of my V70 cup holders.

I am a soccer referee and ordered the fuzzy side by mistake (our badges use an adhesive rough male side to adhere to the softer fuzzy side sewn on our shirts. I had the adhesive fuzzy circle in my car one day when it fell into the cup holder and fit perfectly - it was difficult to grab hold of it to remove. I pulled off the adhesive film and pressed it into the cup holder bottoms and it works great.

I also installed these into the rear seat console cup holders.

It is a great easy solution - my V70 lost all the upper rubbery tabs years ago.

:)

The rubber snuggers are no longer available for my P2, but I have the existing beat-up one and images and I think make a pattern and cut a new one.

I've order some of Kron's suggested rubber mats to cut circles for the bottom of the cups. I won't glue them so they can come out to clean.
