Security alarm (fob)

Post by Scelsi »

I purchased a 98 s70 , unfortunately it did not come with a fob. Before I purchase a fob the instructions to program it states that the light indicator on the dashboard has to be light up to program it. My dashboard lite is not illuminated . Can a fob still be programmed if the light is not on? Also, how can I determine if the security light is still functional?
Thanks

Wait for the -1998 guys to chime in but I don’t think you need any light or car stuff to program 1998 fobs, just follow a lock/unlock procedure

Check Robert spinners video series on this, it’s probably covered

Unfortunately, that isn't how the alarm in a '98 70 series works.

Well... you're right. I should read with more attention the next time.

The Good news is, that unlike the ‘99 & ‘00,
a used 9166200 can be added to a ‘98 P80.
Those aren’t too tough to find.

The later 70 series P80’s require a Brand New
remote that’s provided with a factory initiation code.
