Monthly subscription is great!

Post by FireFox31 »

Thanks Matthew for giving us the ability to pay a monthly subscription to this site. MVS gives me so much value that my chosen tier is more than fair. It's reassuring that this forum is still independently owned * after 20 years, so I'm glad to help it remain so.

A few questions about the finances:
How long has monthly subscription been available (and I never knew it)?

Do you still do moderator fund raisers? Do they happen on a schedule?

Can we get on an email list for notification of fund raising efforts like subscription, moderator drives, and those sweet t-shirts? Surely I and many other members have missed the opportunity to give because we didn't log in during the brief windows when fundraising posts were pinned. Are there other email lists for announcements? Can email list membership be easily managed by the users?

* Is the site independently owned? I don't see any AutoGuide, VertalScope, or other branding at the bottom of each page.

I frequent the ADVRider forum that was recently purchased by VerticalScope. Lots of chatter (85 pages worth in a month) on how that'll impact the environment there.

FF, thanks for your post. I guess I'm not comfortable with asking for money (often, or blatantly). I've had a subscription option for a year or two. A handful of users have become subscribers/MVS Contributors in that time.

Moderator donations happen every spring. It's coming up and I'll post it in the little Announcement window at the top of forum pages in a week or two.

I have a MVS Newsletter, but it's been dormant since Covid hit. I'm going to bring it back up, probably in March. The functionality of it is handled by Mail Chimp, and it's easy to sign up and easy to unsubscribe.

MVS is owned solely by me... no financial partnerships or fractional ownerships.

Krons, there's a little more Verticalscope info here: viewtopic.php?p=594876#p594876
Help keep MVS on the web -> click sponsors' links here on MVS when you buy from them.

Also -> Amazon link
. Click that when you go to buy something on Amazon and MVS gets a cut!

Don't worry, Matt, we're a lot to understand and appreciate to its real value the total of all you put in MVS. To me, i love MVS, not because i always find solutions to my 850 issues, but because it's more than an website. MVS is some digital pages with real humans pieces into ! I spend really good time to read all these pages !
