After another break-in drive yesterday, I was under the hood checking temperatures, and noticed the the fuel lines get pretty warm as they pass over the engine. Makes sense, as they are sitting between the top of the engine and the heat blanket under the hood.
On top of that, to make things worse, they are painted black. But typically you want your fuel cool, not hot.
Has anyone tried to shield these lines in order to keep the fuel as cool as possible ? Seems like it would be easy enough to do, so I'm going to try an idea or two today.

No need for that...it came from the factory like that and no further isolation is needed.

I agree that it probably isn't necessary, however if you want to add some sort of shielding, I would probably use that reflective aluminum wrap, similar to what you see on AC and power steering lines.

If you can get some of the shielded wrap like the guys suggest it may help. I once managed to get a roll of shielded tube like aluminum coated heat protectant that was to put over fuel lines. No idea where I got that though.

Well it seems like cooler gas would get you more " bang " for the buck, and it doesn't seem like it could hurt.
Yes the metal HVAC tape was what I was thinking of using. Specifically I was going to wrap the lines with a layer of tape, then slip a length of heater hose over that, and then do a second wrap of the tape over the hose.
I'm mainly thinking that this won't hurt on those occasions when I'm driving in the desert in 118* temps. I used to have issues with my work truck vapor locking in hot weather, and after wrapping the lines, the problems all but went away completely. But I realize this is a completely different beast.

You definitely have more high temp issues that most of will see, so I don't think it can hurt to try to reduce fuel temps and possible vaporization issues. I only have to deal with -40+C to +35C temps!!

I decided that the outer layer of tape wasn't necessary ( yes I realize that none of it probably is ), and might not look very nice.

Thanks Scot ! I kind of thought the same thing when I was done. With all the other hoses over there, it just sort of blends in.
