2002 XC90 Suspension on a 99 V70XC?

Just a question I had pop in my mind today. I've heard of people swapping rear axles out on 2002+ V70XCs with XC90s. I know the setups are very different on my 99 V70XC, but I was curious if anyone had any experience with the way the suspension is set up on my car and the XC90s that could give some input. Thanks!

My first stop would be the Volvo parts web store online, punch in both models and see what the rear axle diagrams and part numbers look like…

The first stumbling block might be a lot of 2002 XC90 parts are NA

As the saying goes, with enough money anything is possible!

The reality is different. The P2 chassis is common to the 01-07 XC70 and the first gen XC90. So the mounting points are the same making the transfer of parts possible.

The P80 subframe on the front and rear are completely different. The front control arms are totally different for example.
