Finally received both V160 JLR pro's yesterday and can confirm Vida recognizes it. I did not use the disc that came with it nor did I use their google drive that includes: SDD 160, Vida 2014D and techstream 16.20.023. I bought from 2 separate vendors and I received exactly the same thing so no matter which vendor you choose it's all coming from the same factory. They do come with mongoose stickers and they all have the same serial number funny enough. I installed the original JLR driver from: http://drewtech.com/downloads/ under their "past products" section. Only part I struggled with was the vida I installed had that dreaded red X under the communication tool but after downgrading java and .NET everything works as intended, haven't tried everything on Vida but I'm able to read the modules and find faults. Next thing I'm trying is tuning with Hilton and module activation.

Thanks for being our guinea pig!!

Your info will probably help dozens of us. After my DiCE finally died last year I've been looking for alternatives.

Much of my time during the job is spent hauling things up and down the stairs to the basement or in and out of the storage shed, or running back downstairs when I realize I need something else,or taking a break from standing out in the sun,or using flashlights or work lamps when it gets dark.

There will always be idiots that blame the product.
Some of the sellers on Amazon and eBay pack software that does not work. I always toss the disk and find the software on my own.

I have not played around with it too much but it works on mine. Reads VIN, DTCs, sets software flags.

Ran into my first problem with the V160, it says the ECM is not responding for some reason. But I see that Rick's V158 is able to see/read the ECM. The car has no issues so I'm leaning more on the V160 having an issue or being different from the V158. If I want to tune the car I'm going to have to get this sorted out!

Go over to the ECM Diagnostics and read the error codes.

The ECM is greyed out when I'm in the diagnostics tab, no codes coming from it. I find it weird I'm able to see every single module except the ECM.

What is the the car battery voltage?

I cannot be the V160. The V160 uses the same hardware to communicate with the other modules on that bus.

Use [PrntScrn] on your keyboard then look in Pictures/Screenshots.

I had a charger hooked up because I know these cars LOVE to drain their batteries quickly. it was around 13.5-14V with the key in the second position. I'll try again tomorrow, like you said it should not be the V160 but the car does not have any issues so there's no reason for it not to communicate. Maybe I'm once again having problems with Vida? I'm not sure. :?:

Do both the V160's you bought give the same problem?
Looks like you're using Chrome, so maybe a VIDA problem like you suspected or maybe W10 / Chrome?
