Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
Yup, hopefully it's the caliper and nothing upstream. That's when it can get exciting.

Did my sparkplugs today. Will update the headgasket thread but the good news is none of the spark plugs were clean and all the wear was even. No coolant in the cylinders either. I hope this fixes the startup roughness. Next project to tackle is the alternator.

I got to visit FCP Euro last week. Dropped off a sizeable load of cores, oil, and returns. Probably saved over $100 in shipping.
Seems like they've expanded since my last visit a few years ago. I went to the door I used back then but it's now for employees only. They moved their customer entrance to a much larger area, retaining all the pick-up lockers for those lucky CT residents. Had full view of the garage with their race cars in various states of assembly. So they're offering good prices and paying out for lifetime warranty returns yet still have money to expand. Good work.
They had these clever curb side pickup signs, one featuring the famous flying Volvo. Parked off to the side was there 850 drift wagon next to a drift Benz W211 E-Class.
And for the keen eyed, yes, my Columba wheels are on backward. Tire rotation makes this the unfortunate half of the year. They'll face the right way in Sept or so.
And I'm unintentionally showing off the newly installed front and rear doors I got from the junkyard and the rear wheel well body work which was done. The whole right side looks so much better and should be more rust resistant since the twisted bare metal is properly painted.

How can you tell if there's coolant in the oil that you drained during a change? My coolant level is gradually dropping and I'd like to know where it's going.

You will get a milkshake if it’s leaking to the point where you see the level change on a daily basis.
Black stone will also report fuel and coolant in oil to identify minor leaks

A miracle happened today!
I didn't know the blinkers were supposed to flash when you open and close the car because mine never did that.
After leaving my car for 6 months and draining the battery it suddenly started working again.
Any explanations?

I know I have a slight leak in the radiator and i got a spare waiting to go in when the weather warms. I should have added that my sparkplugs were evenly worn and no coolant in the cylinders when i changed them the other day. My oil was a darker brown but didnt look creamy or something to indicate a large headgasket leak.
I know im loosing some out of the reservoir and radiator however its manageable at the moment.
I have not seen an increase in contaminants in the oil over the last 15k km so i am not sure how it got in there.

Do you mean locking and unlocking with the key fob? Mine doesn't give any indication I've locked it, and I wish it would. I have to look at the lock buttons, or listen and sometimes I'm too far away to see, and my fob is not reliable for some reason..... I guess I need to disassemble it and maybe clean the contacts.
