06 S60 2.5T AWD - Engine mount advice

Post by scot850 »

On the never ending saga of my buddies son's car, I got a short time to look at it yesterday. I wanted to make sure the reason the radiator was leaking was down to old age/ wear and tear.

Looking at the upper and lower torque mounts, I am used to the lower one and checking wear on it as it is basically the same as the P80 one (either FWD or AWD). There is a larger front bush and smaller rear (never understood that as the small one always fails).
On this car the smaller rear one looks like it has failed as there is a lot of side to side movement.

It is the upper one I am having difficulty assessing as the P2 has a large plate on it that prevents seeing it short of removing it.
The P80 is easy to establish it's condition and failing due to cracks appearing in the rubber that are easily seen. Also the round bush insert is tight in the housing. I have what I think is a new aftermarket upper torque mount and you can move the rubber portion around easily in the aluminum mount. Is this how they are from new or how should they be. If this is not how they should be then it will be changed too along with the crank mount.

Plan to use Hutchison parts as Volvo part prices are stupid.

Neil.

Did I see you in a real nice red 850 wagon on McLeod Trail a couple weeks ago?

I only wish I had one, but no. I have a laser blue 2000 V70R which is under covers for the winter. I have had 2 x 850 but both were sedans (Blue and Red).

Bump? No guidance on how to tell if an upper P2 torque bush is good?

Thanks,

Neil.
