850 -93 automatic only drives in reverse

Hi!
My 850 suddenly stopped driving in drive a couple if months ago.
It drives fine in reverse.
When checking fault codes I get the code a1 232, speed sensor signal missing.
I've checked the transmission fluid and it looks good. I've cleaned a red connector on the transmission that I believe is a speed sensor?
I've tried changing the control unit for the transmission.
And no luck so far.
Does anyone have any idea of what the solution might be?

Have you tried it in any other gear than 'D'. Have you tried the winter setting?

It is just to see if it is all gears or only first that is bad.

Yes, I've tried every other gear. Nothing happens, it only modes in "r"

How do you mean "early cars"?
All models have cable which goes on top of pnp switch.

Little shaft protrudes from transmission,goes through pnp switch and on top of pnp switch goes shift arm.

Shift arm is connected with gear shift selector in the cabin via cable.

I know about the PnP cable, but trying to figure out how you can select reverse but not forward gears. The only way this could happen is if there is a fault with maybe the cable or sleeve which only allows it to move far enough to select reverse and then even though you may move the lever to D or any of the other forward motion gears the cable does not actually move beyond reverse or neutral?

I thought I had remembered (probably wrongly) that the 92-94 used some sort of cable system between the shifter lever and the PnP. Maybe I am thinking of manual transmissions or wrong all together.

Simple....cable snapped or binding somewhere along the route or transmission gave up.

To verify this....op will need to remove things under the hood and to check if shift arm and cable moves when gear shift is moved in all gears....P,R,N,D,3,L.
If it moves...i would read and clear the code in TCM and hope for the best.

Maybe all it is needed is to read and CLEAR the code from TCM.

TCM dtc are read and cleared from port A1

Not A2

TCM...unlike ECU or ABS or ECC will not clear the code itself after the fault is resolved or after the battery is disconnected.
It will remain stored untill the fault is solved and code cleared.

If pnp switch is at fault....transmission would go into limp mode,stuck in 3rd gear or so...but the car would be driveable.
Orange arrow would flash on the dash.

He also never mentioned that he had the transmission warning(orange arrow) on the cluster.
