Still need to reinstall the turbo before I can check for leaks, but all looks good so far. Also did the firewall heater hose coupling bypass. Wasted some time running around looking for distilled water. Must be a supply chain issue . Should have everything buttoned up today.
Question: Is it true that with the crank at TDC and timing belt off, that the camshafts can be rotated as needed without worry ?
Just wondering for future reference in case I need to change the timing a little more due to the NA cams.

The timing mark on the crank is not TDC, the number one piston is near top and will hit valves if you rotate the cams full turns

Found a small water leak under the front of the engine. I checked everything over, and it looks like it's coming from the thermostat area. I don't see where exactly, but below it is the highest point that I've found any water. Most importantly, it's not the water pump or coolant pipe. The thermostat housing, though clean, had a lot of pitting where the O-ring seats. I'm guessing that's the issue.
I was hoping it might have been a loose hose clamp, but .....
Still all and all, it's all good.

Check if the leak is the thermostat seal ring. Was the thermostat a Volvo part you used. If aftermarket, I have had issues with some of the seal rings being too thin and leaking.
