I was told by FCPEuro that they could not look up torque rod bolts/nuts for my car because it was Euro-spec.
In all my searches here and on various vendor sites, this has never come up.
I understand differences in lighting, safety regs, etc.
So, the questions are:
What is the difference in Euro/US specs?
What parts are for both spec issues?
Is there a designation in the Vin that means a Euro-spec vehicle? In other words, what exactly proves I have a Euro-spec S70?
This is not a major concern, however some clarity would be good.
I think if I truly have a Euro-spec S70, that would be kinda cool
Thanks and good day,
Tommy

If someone can look up your Vin# on Vida it may show it is a Euro supplied car. It would mean it was either a personal import or on of the cars where you could opt to collect it from the factory and drive around Europe before shipping it home.
I would think it would be a personal import though as the latter the vehicle would be normally supplied to the market of use.
Being a Euro import is strange as it would require an instrument cluster swap as I can't think of any LHD countries in Europe that have MPH speedos.
My Vida system is down so maybe someone could look it up for you.
Unless those bolts are missing or broken, just re-use the originals.
Neil.

It was manufactured in Ghent Belgium (Vin position # 11) so it may have been made in europe. My old V70 was a Ghent one and the one i have now was manufactured in Halifax Canada.
I think Volvo did import some of them cause of the vehicle i have a few are from Ghent and a few are from Canada.
In terms of your original question, it means next to nothing as the these cars had pretty similar torque specs given that these engines didnt change too much from what i gather.
To answer your question, it was indeed made in Europe, but its end market was here.
In terms of compatibility, it should be the exact same across.
Cherish you have a Ghent vehicle, however i have not noticed anything difference among them.
I might do a metal composition scan to see if they used the same metals but i would not imagine too much of a difference.

Thank you for the replies.
A fellow teacher w/my late Mom went to Europe and bought a 1973 Standard bug and toured Europe before returning home w/the bug. I bought the bug 2 years later and w/in a year a truck crushed it like a bug - pun intended, ha.

All P80 Volvos are made in either Ghent or Goteborg - i have one Diplomat car, but they still had to be outfitted for US or Canada per respective regs.
Something fishy there, in Extreme Southern Sweden (Denmark)I was told by FCPEuro that they could not look up torque rod bolts/nuts for my car because it was Euro-spec.
