Hi,
I did the timing belt on my 1998 V 70 last weekend, including replacing the hydraulic tensioner. The old plastic clip shattered when I tried to remove it. I just got ahold of a new clip.
Which way is up on this little clip? I want to pop it in there today if possible.
thank you,
Super picky question: orientation of plastic clip on hydraulic TB tensioner?

Hmm, I don't know. When I did mine, I think I was getting tired, because I remember hearing that I should install it in the same orientation as before, and then promptly didn't pay attention to how it was before. I ended up installing it in whatever orientation made sense to me at the time.

I studied the parts for awhile, I think the side that looks like a rounded dome goes downward. I'm going to need to get into it from the side though, I can't make it happen from up top. Fighting me to the last.

I've bought a couple of tensioners and have never seen that part. Was it only on 98+ models ?

I must not have read the original post clearly the first time around. The plastic piece sits (reaches?) down inside the tensioner. I don't have my spare in front of me, to look at, but think how it would be to sit on a 5-gallon bucket if it were right side up
Maybe that's what was meant in the video I watched by orientation.... I took it to mean direction of the slot.

In case this hasn't been discovered already: The cup shape is the top, there is a rim let into the bottom edge that fits into the top of the tensioner.
