Abysmal quality parts. Pretty much everything they sell is absolute garbage, with few exceptions.

Time for the steering lines.
These are the old lines, but they weren't leaking before, so I put some new o-rings on them and installed them. I fully realize it's a risk if they're far gone enough to leak, but if they do, I'll replace them. I'm going to anyway, but if I can get another six months out of them, I'll take it. I WANT THE ENGINE IN THE CAR.
Oh, and I had to customize a wrench to get the return line fitting on.

Hey, it's not MY fault they designed the rack with zero wrench clearance. To be honest, shortening the wrench didn't really help that much.matthew1 wrote: ↑10 Apr 2022, 19:43Nevada1906 wrote: ↑10 Apr 2022, 19:01 Oh, and I had to customize a wrench to get the return line fitting on.![]()

Oh, well. I'll just weld it back together.

Crows feet work in that tight space.
Put the return line on first and keep both lines loose until you are down to the last two hex flats and it’s easier. Still not easy, but easier.

Can someone tell me what this thing is?
It came with the pedal pack and my best guess is that it's a cruise control disconnect.

Tonight, a major milestone: The engine and transmission are now together.
The new clutch:
Splines line up. That's the right answer so far.
Torqued down. I was actually able to eyeball the clutch disc into place. The transaxle slid on with no resistance the first time.
And here it is, all assembled and ready to be installed in the car.
This is sort of a temporary configuration, to get the car rolling. My long-term plans include - bit-by-bit - an R clutch, a Quaife LSD, silicone vacuum lines, braided AN power steering lines, a new throttle body, a new alternator, a new radiator, a custom STi-style top-mount intercooler with an inverted intake, a titanium turboback exhaust, a full S60R brake package, 17" bronze TE37s and some sort of small decklid spoiler.
For right now, though, I'm very happy with the way this is worknig out.
