Hi Mecheng,
Glad to hear everyone is okay, that is what is most important!
I'm currently working on swapping my 850 from a 10v head to a 20v head and I was told to come ask you about parts by some other forum members.
Pretty much, I'm just wondering if the head from your engine is salvageable?
I could also use an auto shifter because mine has a broken spring in the button and is a pain in the ass to get into gear.
Thanks!
Drew

I’m not certain it’s salvageable but I just paid the tow bill and gave the ownership to Classic Tow. They will sell to a scrap yard. You can call them (416) 604-3222 to find out who they are selling to. The car had roughly 235,000km so if the head isn’t damaged it should be good as the car ran perfect, lots of power. The whole engine was shifted but I don’t see any impact on it.

There is an aftermarket button replacement for the automatic shifter knob. IPD sells it and not sure if FCP does. Otherwise you are doing the right think and seeing if you can find a good used on. Be prepared to be disappointed as many used ones are also going bad.

Hopefully good things may come from this.

This taught me to make sure your car locks once you start driving. I enabled the feature on my E90.

We had a look at the MK8 GTI and we were impressed. It looks good, the interior and visibility feels good. Unfortunately we couldn’t test drive any cars as they were all sold. I’m not a VW guy but the new GTI is getting rave reviews and used cars are so expensive

GTIs have been good in Mk VII Golf generation, the one from circa 2015-2021. I have a Alltrack, which shares the same bits as all MkII Golf family. It's been good, with the exception of a few small annoying things. I saw a new GTI in that dark metallic yellow and it was blindingly pretty.

Doors lock when I start driving, stock behavior.
Help keep MVS on the web -> click sponsors' links here on MVS when you buy from them.

Also -> Amazon link

Yea they are sharp looking. I like their tight lines compared to a lot of Japanese cars that seem bulbous for lack of a better word. I’m just slightly concerned about reliability but the mk7 was fairly reliable and the mk8 is made in Germany.

I was thinking of the P3 S60 but I know many of them have oil burning problems

Or you just press the central door lock on the door each time you get in and out.
