This video should help you. Basically the way it's oriented the battery pack will leak corrosive acid onto the PCB and fry your board. Then you get a message on the DIM, sunroof not working, and false alarms, or a mixture of all three. Some P2 nerds crack open their siren and pre-emptively replace that battery pack. I just removed my siren completely (no sunroof on my 2.4) so that I would never get a false alarm problem (has potential to run down battery). My preferred method was to go in through the headlight then you just use a socket to release it from its' bracket. Might be worth a look since you already have the bump and headlight off.




On the bulbs, I've never had an issue changing them. It's real tight and I sort of have to fish the little covers out in order to gain access. My mitts are quite big but slender so I'm able to kind of reach my way in there. Driver's side I've definitely had to remove that brake booster hose a few times to get at the bulb. More troublesome I find are some of the rear bulbs in the car. And a big ole' PITA was replacing one of the rear taillights my wife cracked, although knowledge gained through that helped me install my 3rd seat fairly quickly in the XC70

Cleaned the MAP sensor. Not easy as access to the torque head is limited. The head suffers from corrosion, you can guess the rest two hours for a ten minute job. Replaced the torque bolt with a cross head and added grease. Don't know if it's helped the performance, MPG yet not had a chance to take it for a run.

Ran out of time to look at the alarm siren. As the car is 17 years old, if it ain't broke don't fix it! As I don't drive the car I have no idea if it works or not, and so far we have not had any warning lights or notices.

I did see where it was from your previous description. A bit of a pig to access and like you said, easier to do with the bumper off.

If I get really bored over the winter I may take a look at it. Now I remember how the bumper comes off and goes back on it is easier to do, same with the headlight removal now that I have used the correct clips, repaired the cracked slider for the bumper retainer which the body shop did not replace (plastic welder and filler rod). Also found one of the headlight bolts would not go in. It was also difficult to remove. It is the rear one hidden under the mounting bracket at the side of the fender. Found that the clip was distorted and a slight crack in the headlight unit. Again repaired it to prevent it breaking off.

I don't know if any of you have tried to replace the inner marker light on the Xenon headlights. What a totally stupid design. It is hidden about 2" inside a 1.5" hole and 2 small tabs have to be depressed and you carefully pull on the wire to get it out. There is no way I can believe anyone can get in there without removing the unit first as you can't see what you are doing.

Anyway all went back together and replaced all the clips with the correct Volvo ones. Fortunately I bought extras of the 2 for the bottom corners of the bumper as there are 4 not 2 as in the instructions. These had not even been replaced by the repair shop.
Overall, I could have done the job way better and a lot cheaper which I had offered the insurance company.

AS I had the front wheels off I tempted fate and fitted the all-season tires even though we have a light snow outside. So far it is melting fairly quickly and weather is supposed to improve next week. Hopefully not jinxed it!

I removed the siren fuse for mine, and the sunroof works fine. Now I'm suspicious that it will break something that I haven't noticed yet.

Replaced the Vacuum lines on this assembly under the intake manifold. This was going to give trouble real soon! The old lines crumbled right off the check valves.

Were those the original lines?

(1970 Charger R/T??? 440 with three 2 barrels? What color?)

They were in fact original! 300,000 Kms. I'm going to check the rest of the lines and hoses and be a little more proactive.

08 S60 got oil and ATF change today at 140,700 miles. 400 miles ago I put 12 oz of Marvel Mystery Oil in the crankcase to do some cleaning as I don't know the maintenance history and PCV was needing changed when I bought it. Was a short oil change interval of 2000 miles in total. Oil was quite dark, filter showed some carbon bits along edges but nothing major.

In went a concoction of 5qt Quaker State Full Syn High Mileage 5w30 + 16oz MMO + 16oz Redline Full Syn 15w50 (to balance the viscosity) and a Mann HU819x Oil Filter. Will go back to straight oil after this change in 3000 miles.

Also did a drain and fill ATF Valvoline Maxlife (3qt). Shifts like butter.

I tied the last couple of days to repair my left, upper taillight lens using super glue and some plastic bits. It was not successful. I will be ordering a new lens for about $150. Unless someone has one to sell? Car is 2001 V70.

Lens was on sale at IPD - $148 including USPS Priority mail.
