There were a set for sale with unknown tires here, but they want $350 CDN (about $240). They sold today.

Neil.
Neil,

I can get you these for $100 for 4 with decent tires. Wheels are the right size 16 x 6.5 and correct offset, but the tires are 55 because they came off of an S60.
If Neil passes, count me in for $100 plus your time/ gas.

Ha.

I read somewhere that the Columbas might not fit the discs and calipers on my 99 T5. Someone posted that they were fine if you ground some fins of the calipers.
Yeah, that was me. I put an FCP 302mm big brake kit on my Columba-equipped 850 and after I knocked down the ribs on the calipers, the Columbas fit fine.

I did that conversion in 2012 and it's still working today, 70,000 miles later. I can't speak highly enough of the combination of Zimmermann rotors and Akebono pads. I'm not nice to my brakes and those parts WEAR LIKE IRON.

What paint did you use on the calipers? Looks a lot more substantial than the Duplo? caliper paint I get here.

Thanks for the offer on the rims Eddystone. It would be just a hassle to get them even if you had room in July on the way through. If abscate wants them he can use have them with my blessings! LoL!

I also hope the car the wheels are for will be long gone by then (or my wife may have a lot to say about it!).

Neil.

I used VHT engine primer and engine paint. Plus, I stripped the calipers and degreased the hell out of them before I primed them.

Two coats of primer and two of paint.

Your winter weather is a lot different to ours, and probably a lot less salt and de-icer on the roads. How has the paint held up so far?

Thanks,

Neil.

I painted the calipers in Florida, which is where they spent about six years. The car's been in Virginia since then. This is what they look like today.

I made a writeup about that in the VRD and didn't make your account MVS Contributor level. Better late than never, and my apology. Do you want the MVSC avatar?

Oh, not a problem!

And sure, if you want to let me use the avatar, that sounds good!
