Missing piece

Post by Swick »

I just recently got this 1997 850 T5 Wagon back from my mechanic. He informed me a piece broke in between my line, what he failed to do was keep the piece that broke so I could see it and order a new one. Instead he put a brass fitting in between and clamped it down. I’m like 99.99% sure a certain part is supposed to be there, I just can’t figure out what. I added 3 pictures below showing the fitting and what it’s connected too! Any help would be greatly appreciated & if you need anymore information just let me know

There may have been a small plastic in-line filter, although I don't see it on parts diagrams. Hopefully someone with a similar year of turbo will chime in.

I recently worked on a 98 V70 NA and the emissions line was solid to the valve, and there was a filter just after the valve. It makes more sense for a filter before the valve to keep oil out of the valve.

I think that filter was to keep carbon particles out of the purge valve , so it would have to between valve and canister.

A turbo should also have two vacuum purge lines ftom valve to vacuum source. One is for normal vacuum and other vacuum under boost

What ever it is ( one way check valve ? ), the arrow / flow is toward the intake, so its drawing from somewhere.

I'm sorry but I could not get mine to separate from the hose. If I pulled any harder on it, I was worried that I'd break mine as well.

I will be working on the car this weekend, so I might be able to get the number then.
