On my 2001 S60 I had a small leak at the inlet of the fuel filter, and I decided it was a good time to replace the filter. The quick disconnect was rusted onto the filter, and I ended up cutting the hose and clamping it onto the filter.
When the job was done everything seemed fine for a moment, but then gasoline came cascading down to the ground from above.
So I removed the rear seat and accessed the fuel pump. I cranked the engine and saw gas shooting out of the fuel line's hose-to-quick-disconnect fitting joint at the pump.
So I clamped the hose to the fitting. Admittedly, I didn't have the clamp as close to the neck of the fitting as I wanted, because I had to keep it back from the rim of the pump retainer ring. But still, when I cranked the engine again the pump once again blew the hose enough off the fitting.
I'm going to get new hose and fittings for both ends, but is there an issue here with excess pressure?

Questions:
Is your fuel hose a close fit to the filter tube size? A bad fit will be hard to clamp and seal.
What type and size of hose clamp did you use? A worm gear clamp, especially one too large for the hose, will not clamp well. A crimp type ring clamp will work better if selected for proper fit.

The problem is at the fuel pump now. The hose clamp (worm gear type) worked fine at the filter. The clamp size was appropriate, and the hose appears to be 5/16", the same size as the filter inlet.
I was surprised to see the hose come off the quick connect so easily up at the pump. It had hardly any friction left to it; I could move it in and out by hand easily.

The fitting seals on the tube with o-rings. On p80s the tube is held in with a captive spring you release by pressing it in.
The later models use a flange on the hard fuel line and a bayonet style lock to hold the line on the steel tube, it also seals with orings
You will need oetiker clamps to get a hold on rubber to steel line. Worm drives won’t hold 50psi long term

That's what I had on my setup. I don't know what holds the quick connect to the hose, though. When it is good, it is good, but it completely failed up at the pump.
I will get an oetiker setup, for hose to quick connect and hose to fuel filter inlet pipe, to do this job right.
Hopefully that will put this issue to rest! (I am delighted that the pump or tank themselves are not at fault). Thanks for the insight.

Assuming the clamps, fittings and hose fix it, I've been fortunate with this one. It's costing me, but I keep thinking of how much money I'm saving. The dealer wanted $2100 to do the front axles, $850 for front brake hoses (just the hoses, not lines). A local place wanted $650 for an alternator job. That's what started me going on this repair/restoration. I wish I had gotten a bigger jack than the 2.25 ton I got, I've been under the car so much. But it does the job.
Amazon is my least preferred, but they just happened to offer me free Prime, so I should have the parts tomorrow.
I see that the quick connect fittings are press-in. If I can do that, I don't think I'll need the oetiker clamps:

That bayonet style is ezpz. I shuttle back and forth between the triangle of nyc, Long Island, and Albany in case you are on my route
