That part might only see pressure on a turn. Are you adding a lot of fluid? I would take a road trip if you only have to top off monthly or so

I don't know exactly how long this has been occurring, I've only recently noticed the drops on the driveway. I haven't added any fluid yet, but the dipstick is in the ADD area at this time, so I need to top it off. Do these PS units use the same ATF as the transmissions for these cars? I've got Castrol Transmax Import (which I think is Dex/Merc III compatible) in the transmission now, and I have some remaining fluid I could use to top off.

My chassis tag doesn't have some of the rows filled in. Regardless of what the car had in the beginning, when the mechanic did the front suspension work last year I had determined that TRW was the right type of tie rod ends, and looking back at my big suspension order from FCP last year, I used TRW tie rod ends and they are still in the car. So, it looks like TRW is the rack I need to get at this point.

Look at bottom of the steering valve, the vertical round piece the steering shaft sticks into.

TRW has a round cap

SMI Has a hexagon cap

Definitely try the stop leak product.

I use Valvoline maxlife synthetic ATF in all my P80 power steering systems to keep my fluid inventory simple

I don't think that seal has any significant pressure behind it, just the pressure in the return line, which is minimal. I did use the Lucas stop leak, I think it slowed down, but mine is still there, but leaking enough to keep it oily down there. But it's worth adding a power steering stop leak to top up the power steering, can't do any harm, might give you time to get ready for the rack to come out. Mine has been leaking for the 2 years that I have owned the car. I got a replacement rack to go in, but mine is an AWD turbo, so lots of junk in the way to change it.

I will try the Lucas, I don't have much to lose at this point. Plus with the dye already in the system, it will be a good test of the stopleak product as I can wipe it down now to set a baseline and see how much blows past in the weeks ahead.
