That’s it , isn’t it? Or am I messed up with something else?

On edit..I forgot my 99 uses a different style bracket as the lines split at-art on the rack differently between -1998 and 1999- model p80s

ENGINE AND TRANSAXLE ARE INSTALLED!!!

I'm aware these aren't Volvo parts, but I'm not in a position to spend upwards of $600 on mounts right now. Besides, I'm planning to install a Quaife LSD and an R clutch at some point in the next few years, so I'll just do the Volvo mounts then.

20220505_174508.jpg

Found some nuts and bolts that fit:

20220505_181822.jpg

Attached them:

Away we go:

Apparently, this site won't let me upload portrait-oriented photos.

And now it's in:

20220505_191431.jpg

In keeping with this car's prototype status, some things don't work right away. For example, the front mount bracket I bought doesn't fit properly. Guess I'll have to buy a different one. Right now, I have a floor jack holding up that corner of the engine.

Obviously, there's a lot to do. In addition to the front mount bracket, I need the upper and lower torque rods. The old ones are shot.

Shift cables need retention circlips. They fit, though:

20220505_201025.jpg

Tight fit. The power steering pump reservoir only LOOKS like it's on crooked. It's straight:

So there it is. I'm sure this is just the start of the interesting (In the Chinese curse sense of the word) part.

Woohoo!

Yeah, that front engine mount bracket is different. You'll need the correct P80 version.

So nice and shiny!

Is it just the last picture but the engine looks much closer to the RH inner fender than I recall? You might want to check how your axles fit if this is the case.

Wait, you have coil on plug ignition on a -1998 style ps pump motor?

Don’t forget to put the aluminum exhaust shield on before the turbo pipe, much easier

It looks about right, it's probably just the angle of the picture. These engines sit pretty close to the inner fender anyway.

You are absolutely right. Looking at it again today, I realised it is the way the picture looks to me and part of what I thought was a narrowed gap is actually the frame lower down!

All looks great!

The engine and transaxle are properly located on the engine front and rear mounts. It really IS that tight a fit. Serpentine belts are fun jobs because if I remember correctly, the belt's wider than the gap between the engine and the framerail.

See why FWD 5-cylinder cars aren't common?
