Thanks, I agree, the Columba wheels certainly look really smart. I have included a quick picture of the passenger side, but unfortunately you will see they are not the mirrored pair. I bought the Columba's as a set of 5 and got 4 refurbished initially. So that you can see what they looked like before the work, I have included a coupe of pictures. To be honest, there was far more corrosion on the inside of the wheel, rather than the face, so I decided to go for the full refurbishment.FireFox31 wrote: ↑04 May 2022, 16:58 That's a lovely color and the Columba wheels look great. Yes, they are correct for the 850 while Perfos are for the V70. Post pics of the passenger side so I can see if you have the elusive mirrored pair.
What was done to the wheels to refubrish them? I'd like to get mine redone but don't want to spoil the factory finish (though it's stained with brake dust).
Good luck with refreshing the car.
I believe the wheels were acid dipped to remove all corrosion, checked for straighteness, any blemishes corrected before being powedercoated silver. I guess it is just a case of picking the shade to be sure it matches the OEM finish - I had 4 silvers to choose from at the shop.

Hi Neil, thanks for the kind words.scot850 wrote: ↑04 May 2022, 20:13 Those are some of the best re-finished wheel I have seen. We can mostly only get wheels powder coated. It lasts reasonably well (maybe 5 years). I would rather have them properly painted and baked with clear-coat but haven't found anyone that does that around here. There was a guy but he charged about 120 pounds/wheel ($180 CDN)!!
Car is looking great and love the colour! I repaired one when I retired and drove it to California for my neice's first car. Same colour as yours, but a 20 Valve 97 850 SE. She still has it 6 years later!
Neil.
I'm fortunate to have a really good powedercoating shop near me in York and they charged £54 per wheel including removing the old tyres and fitting the new set I supplied, including balancing. More than happy with how they turned out, I wish I had taken a picture of the inside of the rim, it looks just a good!

I can imagine Dr. Abscate trying to calculate how to get some wheels aboard his next flight to Heathrow as checked luggage.York850 wrote: ↑05 May 2022, 06:00Hi Neil, thanks for the kind words.

That price is amazing for your wheels. I pay the same for 4 wheels and I have to remove and re-fit the tires and balance them. They also don't look as good as those. Nice!

I'm certainly lucky with the place near me, other's have quoted nearly double and doubt they would be any better.
I dropped my OE rear spoiler off at the paint shop a couple of days ago so will fit that soon, plus a few suspension parts have arrived so the plan is to fit those at the weekend.

Hi all, I've managed to do quite a few jobs over the last couple of weeks
Starting with installing the OEM headhunt (SC801), once I got the code from the dealer - have a CD changer emulator on the way so I will be able to use my USB stick soon. The sound quality is pretty decent, removed an Alpine that a previous owner had fitted and found the new unit on FB Marketplace locally.
Next up, I dropped the rear spoiler I found on eBay at the bodyshop for a nice coat of Volvo 418 Regent Red. I replaced the bulbs in the stoplight and fitted it today. The colour match is really good and although the paint job cost more than I expected, a really good result I think. I have a spare 850 saloon spoiler going free (including brackets, but less brake light) if anyone can make use of it.
Did some more cleaning, including the front marker / indicator lights as they had loads of ingrained dirt around the edges. Also gave the dash a good wipe down and it turned out really well. The interior is one of my favourite parts of the car, it is in remarkable condition for it's age although I guess that is down to the mileage.
I also fitted some new number / licence plates as I wasn't too keen on the aftermarket pressed steel ones that came with the car.
Finally, I fitted some OEM side repeater lights as someone had fitted aftermarket clear versions, including sticking them on with superglue!
There are a few other smaller bits and pieces, but I have included some pictures from today after I gave her a good clean.
