ETM Problems (I'm in a bind!) - 1999 Volvo V70 T5 Manual - UK

The latest , 2014 version of the ETM is built by Volvo in Sweden and apparently has robust software that works across the platform. Glad this worked well.

Photo request…if you are out and about can you take a picture of your Volvo at the Dudley Hippodrome, slated for demolition ?

It’s historical to my family.

Fascinating about the ETM software - it’s still working great in my car almost a month and 1000 miles later.

That would be great if somebudy could shed some light on this as I could savce some time and money.
So the ultimate question is: Is the new type volvobranded (no MM label) with hall efect sensor ETMs are plug and play across the board or not?

I don’t know the answer to this. I was of the impression I would need to install new software when I fitted my new ETM from Volvo. The dealer tried but failed, but the car works great anyway.

To update the thread:

• I got a new ETM from Volvo - fitted it to the car and it worked without software ~£450 for the part.
• I got a refund from ECU Testing for the still faulty ETM.
• I got the exhange part cost back from Volvo after sending them the old ETM - £120.

Total cost £330. All labour done myself.

Car has a P1171 code that I thought might be being caused by the ETM but has since returned so onto that now. Going to smoke test the vac/EVAP system and replace the 02 sensors if no leaks.
