does the tank needs to be dropped to reach the screw?

I’m having trouble with a new fuel pump in my 2002 s60. Anyone know how fuel pressure is controlled in models with no PEM?

Controlled mostly by the pump itself and the fuel pressure regulator (a mechanical device fitted on the rear of the fuel rail).

There is no OBDII metering on these early models.
