2003 S40 Fenders help

Can I modify the 2000 model year fender to fit the 01 to 04 S40? They look close but claim to be a little wider on the later range. I'm in need of fenders on both sides. Attachment similar but different hoping to mod the 2000 fender but have not had one in hand.
