Just got a text from my friend with the red V70. Some A??hole has just backed a large truck into the rear of her car. Damage to rear bumper and large dent to the LHS of the tailgate. The idiot was driving a large cube truck he had borrowed and tried to turn it around without looking behind himself! :x :x

started the turbo car, it still purs although i need to find time for the brakes on it. Checked ECT on my car and it seems the readings are well within spec. Checked for my spare maf but i could not find it. I think i already have it kicking around home somewhere. Will try the maf cleaner on it and swap it and see how it runs. Mechanic said it might help with the odour. The exhaust seems its nearing end of life so i might have to get quotes for a new installation.

Rebuilt my rear windshield wiper assembly again. User proper silver grade antiseize instead of crappy tire spray on lithium grease. Thing spins well and hopefully will not seize again. Thinking about doing the same treatment to my front wipers as my rear now spins faster then the fronts!

I'm not trying to be a downer, but anti-seize isn't meant as a lubricant for moving parts. Unless you've got a product that's not your ordinary anti-seize?

it came under the advice of my mechanic. From what i gather on the product page it says it can be used on rollers and is marine grade so ill report back what i find. The white lithium grease seized in 2-3 weeks. Hopefully this stays longer.

Being from Texas I don't have to use antisieze often but when I lived in the carribean it was a requirement. I have been guilty of using it as a mild lubricant.

Got my repair kits for the 2 x P80 load covers I have that were broken in the house move 2 1/2 years ago. I was looking a the Skandix parts but at $50 Euro each kit and 55 Euro shipping it did not make sense. Found another one from Slovakia and the seller was very helpful:

I just need time to try and do the repairs which look fairly straight forward, biggest issue is getting the spring tension of the cover right! If I figure it out I will post a how-to.

After helping my young friend find someone to fix her bruised V70 that a guy in a large truck backed into while trying to turn a loaned truck around, I decided it was time to finally fit the 4Runner's 'summer' rims and tires that have been waiting for nearly 4 years! House renovations, garage building, moving and stuff in storage have put this on the back burner. The tires were brand new Michelin LTX's (expensive) and the rims were 6 months old used but like new. Hopefully the tires are not suffering from standing on racks for so long!!

Cool, I'd be interested how that cover repair turns out. The plastic mounting pieces on mine are falling to bits/crumbling since I took it out.
