Apparently the car did not like the ABS module being messed with. After breaking the screws loose, I accidentally unplugged it when I flopped the cover over. When I went for a drive the RPM would crash if I let off the gas, and I'd hear a clicking (relays I assume) on the right hand side of the car. I unplugged it again and took a look at it, but didn't see any bent pins. I drove around the large block again, and it was better (no clicking), but the throttle was still a little wonky.

They are challenging! Well done in getting them off. The last one I swapped out, the hardest bolt to reach someone had kindly damaged so the E5 socket would not fit it. Can't recall which size of regular socket I used but it managed to get it loose and I had spares to replace it.

Like abscate suggested, if they have locked the key in, the owner should be able to get a manual key made up that will allow the door to be opened without breaking it. The dealer should be able to do this.

It actually wasn't difficult at all, just the access. Between the inspection sticker and oil change sticker, I believe this car is out of Allentown, PA, but maybe spent time in AZ or Florida, or maybe a garage in PA. No rust!

I took the car out again tonight, and I got more of the odd throttle response, a CEL and the upward arrow. I checked codes with the 850obd2 app, and got P0123 (TPS) and it said something about the transmission, but I didn't see a specific code. I didn't hear the clicking relay sounds I heard earlier. I cleared the codes, and continued, and on my way home it behave fine.

I did have to push a transmission cable around a bit when messing with the ABS module screws.

I'm wondering now, if I even want a high mileage Volvo if my low mileage Volvo keeps acting weird.

Usually getting a high mileage Volvo sorted is the purging of the crap parts cheap Scots have used instead of Volvo or good OE replacements.

Searching with Google it seems a bad TPS covers a lot of what my car is doing. I wonder if I can effectively clean it, with Deoxit.

I'm not sure anything has been done to the 98... from what I see, broken stayed broken. Headlight wipers missing, fuel door missing (I did see it got tossed in the back, which is a plus), the paint is dirty like it's been sitting someplace and needs Larry Kosilla from AMMONYC to intervene.

An unmolested old P80 is a great project. Just got back from my 15 mile morning run on the S70 AWD….” The Kat”

Needed major rehab on one system, the fuel system in the back, but looking at all the maintenance and mods done I’ve barely done anything else.

She zooms off the line and delivers 28 mpg at 55 mph, smooth as silk.

Just don’t start with something too crazy…..

On another note, all 4 of the E5 bolts, on my 850, broke loose with ease.... well after I was able to get the socket on the screws at that awkward angle. The lower front was the most difficult. I'll pull the module Sunday evening, and send it out.

I think shorter sockets might be easier for a couple of the screws, but whatever.
Oops, I should have mentioned earlier that deep sockets are a challenge in that tight space; turbo cars have more stuff in the way, too.
Odd that you're having driveability issues after that, maybe try unplugging and re-seating both connectors ? Sometimes the old-school trick of disconnecting the battery for a half-hour can get the computer to remember to behave.

I'm getting the original reconditioned.... planning on sending it to Mattymoo. Yesterday, I just broke the bolts free.

I'm thinking it's the TPS causing issues.... or wiring, but I hope it's not wiring.
