Is it possible to put the trip computer in a vehicle that didn't come with it. And what all would I need?

97 850 glt is what I have.

Although I have not done it myself, the wiring harness in the dash has all the plugs, so finding the switch and a cluster should theoretically be all you need. The usual warnings about getting the dash pad off - under no circumstances should you follow the ipd video - and of course the mileage on the odo is in the cluster chip, so it travels. Change the little gear and all the lights while you have it on the bench.

The module that bolts in place of the clock and the switch are all that you need, as all of the wiring is in the dahs harness.
No need to swap the full cluster, unless you want a boost gauge on the cluster (the '97 GLT does not have one).

I'll ask the same question for the 99-00 S/V70. What does it take to add trip computer functionality? A 2000 V70 without the computer selector knob still has the six info options in the LCD display. They're visible briefly when connecting the battery. But what does it take to unlock that info?
